The pandemic turbo-boosted my meditation practice
In recent years we have all heard about the countless benefits of meditation. Many studies have claimed it can help with depression, anxiety, and mental concentration. Before the pandemic I had started to meditate here and there, but it was not consistent. Then, I came across a book that was a catalyst for my meditation practice. The name of the book was Becoming Supernatural by Joe Dispenza. I started reading this book at the beginning of 2020 and we all know how that year turned out.
The book that changed it all
The book talks about how we can use consistent meditation to make ourselves better people in all areas of life by connecting to our higher conscious through meditation. It is based on a lot of research and the book can get a bit technical. It is definitely a deep read, but it is also fascinating and intriguing to hear all of the stories in the book. In the book, Dr. Joe Dispenza talks about his personal journey. He mentions how a car accident left him paralyzed and he was able to walk again through his meditation practice. The video below mentions many of the concepts from his book.
7 Days of meditation with Dr. Joe Dispenza in Cancun 2021
I became so fascinated by my learnings that I decided to attend one of his live events in Cancun 2021. It was a seven day meditation retreat and all the pandemic restrictions were still in full force and affect, but I was bored of being locked-up and I wanted an adventure. It turned out to be an adventure of my surroundings because I landed in beautiful Cancun, Mexico, but most importantly in was an adventure of my inner world.
My meditation practice today
Ever since my 2021 Cancun meditation retreat, my life has changed drastically. I meditate practically every day. It is rare when I do not meditate. It helps me to connect with my higher power and it relaxes me and keeps me focused. I still practice many of the techniques I learned at Dr. Joe Dispenza’s retreat. My life has changed in many ways since 2020, but meditation has helped me to look inward for all of the answers.
Hi Mayra!
That is so cool that you went to the author’s live event! I’ve never heard of him before, but his book is intriguing. I have one mindfulness/meditation book that my counselor recommended to me and it’s called, “Wherever You Go There You Are” by Jon Kabat-Zinn. I think it’s similar to the “Becoming Supernatural” book you mentioned. I was wondering if you’ve read it or what your thoughts are?

Hi Lauren,
I have not read “Wherever You Go There You Are.” I always love book recommendations. I’ll look into it. Thank you!
